Haircare is the
new skincare

The market for hair care products continues its growth worldwide. According to Mordor Intelligence, the industry will be worth $94.10 billion in 2025 and is expected to reach $111.16 billion by 2030, with a CAGR of 3.39% over the next 5 years.

In Italy, the sector is also confirmed as a mainstay for the cosmetics industry: according to Cosmetica Italia, hair care products in 2024 were worth 1.5 billion euros, a growth of 8.4 percent compared to 2023. Italians spend 10.8 billion euros on hair care products and services. The ability of hairstylists to diversify their range of treatments and services is facilitating steady growth in salon revenues, bringing new life back into the industry.

While color, volume and texture remain at the top of consumers' priorities, especially when it comes to the professional world, growing exponentially is the demand for products and rituels for the care and well-being of hair and scalp. At the last edition of Cosmoprof Worldwide Bologna authoritative voices from the hair world confirmed how health and protection are increasingly a priority, and that the new frontier of haircare are Hair Spas: “Inspired by refined Asian beauty rituals, especially the very famous Korean skincare, this new trend totally changes the way we take care of our hair. The skin, often neglected, finally becomes the protagonist: it is carefully analyzed, pampered and regenerated through relaxing massa3i, treatments of various steps and latest generation ingredients. It is no longer just hair care, but a true wellness ritual where health and beauty meet, redefining the very concept of luxury,” said Beppe D'Elia, Creative Director and Founder Beautick.

The future of the industry will also involve sustainability and technological innovation. While brands are tasked with grasping the new needs of consumers and professionals in the industry, and investing in digitization and new marketing tools, according to Gianni Rando, Global Artistic Director, Farmagan, preferences are moving toward warm, natural and luminous tones. “Bronde, cherry red, sandy blonde and honey are very much in vogue. Shapes, on the other hand, call for volume, bangs and movement. Voluminous lengths and natural curls approved. Among the most popular cuts is the doll cut, a bob with lightened ends ideal for versatile and modern styling.”
