The Lombardy Cosmetic Cluster is Established, Lumson Among the Founding Members

On December 15, 2025, the Lombardy Cosmetic Cluster was officially established. The association brings together universities, companies and innovation stakeholders with the aim of strengthening the innovative capacity of the Lombardy economic system.

Stretching across Crema, Lodi, Milan and Bergamo lies the vibrant cosmetics district at the heart of the initiative—an area known as Italy’s Beauty Valley, home to hundreds of companies operating throughout the sector. The region also hosts universities and research centers of the highest level, actively engaged in projects and research dedicated to the cosmetics industry.

The Cluster, which will strengthen the positioning of the cosmetics sector at European level—alongside established realities such as Cosmetic Valley and Beauty Cluster Barcelona—counts among its founding members four universities (Politecnico di Milano, University of Milan, University of Milano-Bicocca, University of Pavia), REI – Reindustria Innovazione, and three leading companies in the sector: Lumson, Ancorotti Cosmetics, and REGI + Omnicos.

Matteo Moretti, President of Lumson, is also a member of the Cluster’s Board of Directors.

“The recognition of the Cluster represents an important milestone for all companies within the Lombardy cosmetics district. Its strategic value goes beyond national borders, taking on an international dimension: through the Cluster, not only are the expertise, quality and innovative capabilities of Italian companies officially acknowledged, but the association will also be able to act as an ambassador of Made in Italy worldwide. A powerful and valuable driver for the entire Lombardy ecosystem,” said Matteo Moretti.

Operating across the entire cosmetics value chain, the Cluster will be tasked with supporting the definition and implementation of the Smart Specialisation Strategy; mapping and developing skills; facilitating technology transfer and enhancing research results; supporting the development of regional, national and European calls for proposals; promoting internationalisation and participation in European networks and partnerships; and engaging the wider community.
