Skincare in Evolution:
Global Trends and Innovations

It's a golden age for skincare. Data released by Grand View Research speak of 4.7 percent growth from 2023 to 2030, driven by global demand for face creams, sunscreens, and body lotions. Accomplice to the boom in e-commerce and the media buzz of influencers, actors and singers, who are increasingly creating their own cosmetic lines, customized products and creams and serums enriched with natural ingredients are increasingly popular among consumers. But that's not all. Technology has changed the way consumers interact with brands and the way they shop, and new skincare routines have made their way in: from K-beauty, which promises flawless skin by following a 10-step ritual, to the more recent Skin Cycling, developed by Dr. Whitney Bowe and made planetary by stars and influencers, which focuses on cellular regeneration of facial skin during nighttime rest and makes exfoliation its key.
Globally, among the most loved products are undoubtedly face creams and moisturizing products, as people are more conscious of their physical appearance, more concerned about skin imperfections, and more worried about neoplasms.
Also influencing the skin care market are eco-ethical lifestyles and consumers-especially those belonging to Gen Z-increasingly concerned about the environmental and ethical impact of their purchases. The number of those choosing cruelty-free, green, vegan or plant-based skincare products is growing. Expectations of products and brands have also changed: they expect them not only to help them look better, but also to feel and live better. It is no coincidence that after 2019, demand has grown for products that help improve physical and mental well-being in the comfort and safety of their homes.
While women still cover more than 60 percent of consumption, however, aided by a number of factors, including the spread of skincare among men, new product launches, celebrity endorsement, and rising disposable income, anti-aging and sunscreen creams, in addition to the usual lotions and shaving creams, are also increasingly popular among men.
