THE COSMETICS INDUSTRY: WELLBEING, TECHNOLOGY AND MULTISENSORY EXPERIENCES

The cosmetics industry is evolving through a blend of wellness, innovation and sensory experiences.

Wellbeing, next-generation technologies and multisensory experiences are redefining the boundaries of the cosmetics industry. Beauty is no longer a matter of quick fixes or superficial results, but is evolving towards a more intelligent and informed approach that combines science, innovation and long-term skin wellbeing.

MULTISENSORY EXPERIENCES

According to the Beautystreams CosmoTrends 2026 Report, multisensory experiences are one of the key drivers of innovation and among the most significant beauty trends. In an increasingly digitalised world, consumers are seeking immersive and engaging experiences capable of stimulating multiple senses simultaneously. Transformative textures, ‘memory’ formulas and advanced visual and tactile solutions are some of the most evident expressions of this trend, offering new creative opportunities for brands.

In the world of skincare, for example, there is a shift towards an increasingly sensory and strategic approach: enveloping, lightweight and buildable textures transform the routine into a moment of wellbeing, whilst skin prep is establishing itself as a key step. Preparing the skin is becoming essential for enhancing the effectiveness of treatments and improving make-up results, with hybrid formulas that combine skincare and performance. Hybridisation is also affecting make-up, which is becoming simpler and adapting to a more dynamic daily routine: the way is clear for sticks, tints and weightless formulas, which allow you to achieve a natural, radiant finish in just a few steps, enhancing the skin without masking it.

WITH THE HELP OF NEW TECHNOLOGIES, ROUTINES ARE CHANGING

Innovation in next-generation devices and tools is significantly transforming skincare, body care and haircare routines. From solutions for scalp health to multifunctional devices for skin treatment, right through to advanced analysis systems based on artificial intelligence, the beauty tech sector remains one of the most dynamic and rapidly evolving. In particular, the haircare segment is emerging as one of the most promising, with increasingly high-performance tools complementing a growing focus on hair health, starting with the scalp. Scalp care is establishing itself as a new focus of the routine, with pre-wash treatments, targeted serums and scrubs, whilst interest in natural ingredients and minimalist formulas is on the rise.

ALL EYES ON WELLNESS

Wellness is gaining ever greater prominence, cutting across all categories within the sector and embracing a broader vision that includes health, prevention and quality of life. From nutraceuticals to advanced topical treatments, right through to the growing interest in wellness tourism and longevity-focused solutions, the beauty sector is becoming increasingly integrated with the world of wellbeing.

THE SUCCESS OF K-BEAUTY CONTINUES

All eyes are on Asian skincare and K-Beauty. Driven by the influence of Asian skincare and a growing focus on skin health, K-Beauty has established itself as a global phenomenon, attracting consumers across different markets thanks to its perceived quality and strong digital presence (source: NIQ). Once considered a niche category, K-Beauty is now one of the driving forces behind modern skincare, influencing trends such as ‘glass skin’, multi-step routines and formulations designed to protect the skin barrier. The figures bear this out: whilst European consumers are increasingly drawn to its approach – which combines innovation, education and a focus on long-term skin health – K-Beauty’s popularity is sweeping across all major geographical regions, with significant growth in Latin America (+135 per cent, driven mainly by Brazil and Mexico) and the Middle East (+76 per cent in e-commerce). Western Europe (+58%) and North America (+53%) are also performing well, showing strong growth in demand.
